Unclear decisions and communication paths during incidents

03

BCM, IT recovery and incident response operate separately

04

High dependency on individuals or suppliers

Engagement profile: recovery as a management capability

Contribution: Service prioritisation, dependency picture, decision playbooks and an integrated exercise agenda.

Outcome: Recovery moved from a technical topic to a traceable leadership capability.

FAQ

Common engagement questions.

Are successful backup jobs sufficient evidence?

No. The relevant question is whether a prioritised service can operate again with the required data, identities, platforms and dependencies within the accepted envelope.

Do exercises have to be technically complex?

Not every exercise needs a production test. Decision and tabletop scenarios reveal valuable gaps early; technical recovery tests follow based on risk.

How are BCM and IT recovery connected?

Through common services, recovery objectives, dependencies, owners and escalation criteria—not separate document collections.

Does ITCST support a live incident?

This engagement focuses on preparation and enablement. Active incident-response work is only provided under a separate explicit agreement.

Scope boundary

ITCST structures and supports resilience and recovery programmes. Emergency response operations, forensics, legal advice and guarantees of recovery times are excluded.
